STRICKER HAPPY WITH PAIRING

For those who have been watching golf since the beginning of the 1990s or the mid-1990s as well, they would remember the first time that two young golfers named Tiger Woods, a future world number one and Steve Stricker were paired together. And since then, there have been many pairings between the two, either in the play-off rounds of a Championship or for the United States of America in the Ryder Cup as well as the President’s Cup; they have been paired together numerous times in the playoff matches of the FedEx Cup as well.

And for those fans that are old enough to remember the start of this pairing, there is a treat for them at the World Golf Championships: Cadillac Championships where the two have been paired together once again in the third round at Doral in Miami, United States of America. Steve Stricker shot a second round 70 and Tiger Woods managed a 67 and the two were tied together at five under par 139.

The pair will tee off for their match-up exactly at 11.25 am at the TPC Blue Monster in Doral, one of the most famous parts of the course. Stricker and Woods, who have been the best of friends off the court, have also welcomed the pairing and there was visible delight in the faces of the fans who were present for the draw as this pairing promises an explosive match-up, something that they have delivered throughout the years.

Steve Stricker has also welcomed the draw that has paired him with Tiger Woods after a long gap, during which time The Tiger hardly played on Tour and he added in humor that the days of him being intimated by him are over and it’s time for Tiger to beware of him and learn from him.
